I probably pay too much attention to economic forecasts, but when a pig is mentioned as having a take on America’s economic future, I listen even more intently. It seems that the Darke County (Ohio) Realtors Association is sponsoring an event in which a hog named Darke County Dave will choose between a trough of sawdust or a trough of sugar. Can you guess which one means better times ahead?
Who cares what Phil thinks about winter? It’s 72 degrees and sunny in Tampa, Florida!

What’s this got to do with real estate? Trust me, I can make the connection. You’ve surely received one of those Realtor postcards with a recipe on it, have you not? Recipe postcards have never really been part of my marketing plan. I try to keep things outside of the box so to speak. So here’s my Realtor recipe contribution.
Much like my parents, I’ve long been on a mission to find the perfect margarita. One of my fondest memories of my mother is of her telling a waitress that “we are margarita connoisseurs and we’ve decided that these aren’t very good”. I nearly choked on my lime wedge when I heard that one. She never tended to sugarcoat things much.
So in my parents’ honor, I continue the search for the ultimate margarita. And it’s a never ending search. What fun would it be if we really thought the search could end?
So while I continue the search, I would like to share with you what I consider to be the best margarita recipe I’ve tasted to date. Don’t get me wrong, I will continue the search, but this one holds the #1 spot for now. It’s a recipe that’s pretty common out there, very similar to what you hear as the original recipe. I’ve just tweaked it, or kicked it up a notch as they say.
Here what you’ll need:
Combine all ingredients in a shaker crammed with crushed ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds or so. Pour into a glass with a salted rim, kick back, sip ’til empty. Repeat.
Did you know TopMargaritas.com included Tampa’s Oystercatchers’ margarita on their Top Independent Margaritas of 2006 list? Haven’t had that one. The search continues. Who makes your favorite Tampa margarita?

While doing some web browsing this morning I discovered that today, September 19th, is International Talk like a Pirate Day. I’m not kidding. And living in Tampa, Florida, home of the Buccaneers and Gasparilla, I’m wondering why I wasn’t previously aware of this.
It seems these two guys from Oregon started talking in pirate slang back in 1995 and then decided to celebrate talking like a pirate on an annual basis. Then it seems Dave Barry picked on the celebration and gave Talk Like a Pirate Day some good exposure. The rest is history. Check it out at TalkLikeAPirate.com. Don’t miss the pirate pick up lines.
I like to celebrate just about anything, so there’s today’s reason to have a Captain and Diet.

Bang & Olufsen is opening in Hyde Park Village tomorrow, 9/5/07 so they say! B & O is a high end audio/video electronics retailer based in Denmark. It’s nice to see they feel that Tampa is a place to be. But Hyde Park Village? I would have figured that they’d fit right in at International Plaza or even Westshore Mall. I guess high margin/low volume is the plan. Add Tampa to the list of other Florida cities for B & O: Boca Raton, Coral Gables, Palm Beach and Miami. Nice to see them pay some attention to the left coast. Welcome to Tampa B & O!

Lenny specializes in representing home buyers and sellers in South Tampa, downtown Tampa/Channelside, and the Seminole Heights/Tampa Heights/Riverside Heights areas of the City of Tampa in Hillsborough County, Florida. These areas are the homes of Tampa’s most centrally located neighborhoods. These areas are in demand because of their proximity to downtown Tampa and the Westshore CBD, Tampa International Airport, sports venues, major area shopping malls, fine restaurants, etc. Born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana, Lenny attended Louisiana State University and graduated in 1986 with a degree in Economics. He then moved to the mountains of Colorado and fulfilled a childhood dream to live in ski country and enjoy the outdoors. Lenny taught snow skiing professionally at Beaver Creek and Vail resorts for 10 winter seasons and was one of the most requested private lesson instructors. During the summer seasons Lenny operated a fly-fishing school and guide service in the Vail, Colorado area.
Long winters finally took took their toll so Lenny and his wife Janice moved to Tampa in 1995 and Lenny continued working in the outdoor sports industry managing the fishing tackle department at Bill Jackson’s Shop for Adventure in Pinellas Park, Florida.
Lenny next helped launch one of the more successful retailers of fishing tackle on the internet, eAngler.com, as merchandising manager and customer service manager.
Lenny was licensed as a real estate sales associate in October of 2003 and is now helping home buyers and sellers through the processes involved in real estate sales and marketing, and making those processes enjoyable and stress-free events.
Lenny and his wife Janice have a son, Zachary, and have lived in South Tampa since June of 1995.
