Go Ahead–Talk Like A Pirate

While doing some web browsing this morning I discovered that today, September 19^th, is International Talk like a Pirate Day. I’m not kidding. And living in Tampa, Florida, home of the Buccaneers and Gasparilla, I’m wondering why I wasn’t previously aware of this.

It seems these two guys from Oregon started talking in pirate slang back in 1995 and then decided to celebrate talking like a pirate on an annual basis. Then it seems Dave Barry picked on the celebration and gave Talk Like a Pirate Day some good exposure. The rest is history. Check it out at TalkLikeAPirate.com. Don’t miss the pirate pick up lines.

I like to celebrate just about anything, so there’s today’s reason to have a Captain and Diet.
